Conservation begins with you(th)!
As 7 billion humans jostle for space and compete for diminishing natural resources, our beautiful blue planet is wilting under the pressure. If the earth hasn’t collapsed yet, it is thanks to Nature’s resilience. But for how much longer can this last? Scientists believe that by 2050, the human population will reach 9 billion, and require three Planet Earths to sustain us. However, since we have just the one we live on, the only option is diligent conservation.
The question is, how seriously are we taking the looming planetary crisis? We rush out to plant trees on Earth Day, but don't bother to care for them afterwards. We make a big noise about switching off lights for ten minutes in a year "for global warming" but waste immense amounts of energy the rest of the year. Who are we kidding?!
If we want to enjoy a decent quality of life on this planet, we need to go beyond token gestures and incorporate a sincere conservation ethic into our everyday lives. It is not the responsibility of the government or a few “environmentalists” alone to secure India’s ecological security, but the duty of each one of us. Conservation is not a fad. Conservation is not a hobby. Conservation is an urgent necessity. If we do not take care of nature, nature cannot take care of us; it's as simple as that. YFC aims to provide information and insights to help you understand our ravaged planet and take steps to heal it. Get involved today and show the world that you mean business!
