Save Our Sholas Outreach Marathon
India's Western Ghats are one of the most important biodiversity hotspots in the world. They play a crucial role in harnessing the life-giving monsoon; the lush forests of the Ghats are the birth places of hundreds of rivers that provide water and food security to millions of people in peninsular India. The crucial connection between people's lives and the incredibly biodiverse Western Ghats is portrayed in 'SOS- Save Our Sholas', a 21-minute documentary by Shekar Dattatri.
In 2012, the YFC team, led by K. Ramnath Chandrasekhar, conducted outreach programmes in schools in and around Rajapayalam, a town at the foothills of the Western Ghats.
